In the interests of science and being confined to my hotel room (Kunshan, China)……………..

      Ooooooeer, dare we ask why?

Ah, the power of Immodium vs poor levels of personal sanitation in this part of the world. Getting there now….

Interesting, it seems China are blaming Apple for water pollution around Kunshan!

      Hang on in there

Oh dear, sorry to hear that; presumably not just the yuan that is collapsing? Could be worse though, at least you haven't been blown up and then subjected to sodium cyanide poisoning. thumbs up

for 2D and there are 3D in those ,these are free software but they are limited in use, pour CAD :Minos, draftsight, double cadxt,DraftIt,LibreCAD,freecad,Cadstd,autodesk123D,NanoCad.
For my CNC Badog machine, i use Badog cad/cam software, it's capable to import files from AutoCAD, Solidworks, IDEAS, NX, CorelDraw, Illustrator or any other program that it can export a DXF file from, never had an issue with it.

I have Iron Cad which is a pretty easy CAD programme to use but for free Fusion 360 is hands down winner.

Do NOT use Immodium…just let it all go ! You will only trap the infection inside your body. It is not an antibiotic as some people mistakenly believe.

NOTE : based on personal experience.

Solid Edge ST8 is 2D CAD. It is available as a free download in the US. I do not know if it available free in Europe.

The user interface is very similar to the drawing interface in Solid Edge ans SolidWorks. Full tutorials included.

Hello Ian, my choice was Turbocad. It does not have an intuitive interface but nor do the other cad programs I have used. I put it down to the huge range of tools and options available. The capabilities of the software are way beyond my needs, I just had to learn how to drive the parts I need.

                    Regards,

                    Michael

Hmm. Solid Edge ST8 ("Synchronous Technology&quot is decidedly 3D. It's a direct competitor to Solidworks. It's the "mid range" version of NX, just as Solidworks is the "mid range" version of Catia.

There may be a free 2D version available but that wouldn't make it capable of "synchronous" edits ie not ST which applies to 3D operations.

"The current version of Turbocad Deluxe seems to be v21 and costs something like £65"

It may well do Muzzer but you can buy a slightly earlier version of TC (which will have almost exactly the same functionality) for a lot less money. I think Maplins has been mentioned – TC v18 for £9.99.

                        IanT.

They seem to be offering V20 on EBay for about a tenner on the basis it automatic upgrades to latest version.

Do you think it would then go to V21?

Weasel words. It will install the latest update of V20
