XYZ Mill Power Drawbar

Hi,

I own an XYZ Belt drive head mill and wish to fit a power drawbar.

I have a Vertex/Align kit which requires a plinth to set it above the clutch and stop controls but the instructions do not refer to how much of the new drawbar should protrude into the power unit.

Has anyone any experience of this – the instructions are the usual vague self although a new drawbar/head is included with the instruction to “cut to length”.

The supplier, “Rotagrip” has no experience to help.

Clough42 on YouTube did a video on fitting a power draw bar, not sure if it’s a Vertex/Align unit but would be worth a look?

I have what is probably the same kit bought second hand years ago and never fitted.

As its used I imagine the drawba ar is the correct length so I’ll try and recall where its hiding, drag it out band run tape over it. Probably be a week or so before I can get to look at its ‘cos I’ve caught a monumental cold and aren’t moving well at all. Sorry.

Make a substitute drawbar out of a wooden dowel, possibly with something glued onto it to make the head. Easy to adjust to a working condition and little likelihood of damaging anything if you make an error.
