I would appreciate some advise please. I have a couple of lathes, a grinder and a drill recovered from my father in laws workshop after he moved to a retirement flat. He was a very keen model engineer in his day and has been published in Model Engineer (vol. 190, no. 4192) **LINK**

Unfortuantely he no longer has the space and is too old to use them or worry about finding them new homes. So I have job of finding a buyer for these tools but I've no background in this area so don't know the best way to go about this or what a fair price would be.

The two lathes are belt driven and made by Pultra. There's also a belt driven drill and an electric grinder. Photographs are here:

Whats the best way to go about finding these tools a new home, is there demand for this type of equipment and what's a reasonable price to ask for them?

        Any advise appreciated.

There is more information on your lathes here

There is certainly a market for them they are high precision instrument or clockmaking lathes. No idea of the value but you could put them on Fleabay and let them find their own level.

          Russell.

            Hi Chris

I think there is a market for Pultra lathes and, in the first instance, I would have a word with Tony Griffiths. ( See the link in Russell's post above) As well as the information there he runs adverts for lathes etc. for sale. I'm sure he would carry ads for yours and would, I guess, advise on a suitable price. If you look back in the "Machine Tools Sales and Wants" tag there you will see a Pultra advertised – though not looking as good as your versions.

I would really like one – but I mustn't!! Good luck in your quest.

            Regards

            Norman

I presume you know that your father in law has a gallery site on the Stirling engine forum, I'v often admired his engines there. Ian S C

Thanks for all the responses and enquiries. Lathes have now been put on Ebay.

Just to say I have the same drill press and paid £40 for it last year. I thougth that I got it a bit cheap.
