Hi Alister, basically yes, the Vernier you have to read, starting with all the divisions on the main scale to the left of the 0 on the Vernier scale, which I've mistakenly said as 1 in my above post, you then have to find a line on the main scale that is inline with a line, or the best match, to the right of 0 on the Vernier scale, which will be a 0.XX value, and in the photo I've shown, the caliper is opened at 15.95mm. The digital one you can obviously read straight away as being 10.96mm. Vernier's are not limited to metric measurements though.
