This appeared in the Shed – somehow evaded being made into firewood but in danger unless I can rescue it.
About 9 inches long and one of the curved faces is covered in, I think, leather. The black line down the middle is a fine slit all the way through – dead straight and thin so rather nicely done.
      A wood holder

          <p style=”text-align: left;”>Too delicate to be for such a heavy duty use.</p>
My guess is that it is a part of a fitted scientific instrument case, leather to provide cushioning. The peg inserts into the case to support part of the delicate mechanism.

          Only a guess mind.

Google says it is part of a Farrand organ, specifically the pedal mechanism.

I should have said musical instrument not scientific lol.

Thanks Plasma. There are a couple of organ stops knocking around so might have come in with them.

Don’t know the exact function of it within an organ but it’s obviously very well made.

Mmm …. I tried the ‘Google Lens’ image search [presumably duplicating Plasma’s work] and found things visually similar: but nothing identical.

Lots of interesting information about Reed/Pump Organs out there, but I’ve not seen a single image that is convincingly of the same thing that Bazyle has in his posesssion.
