next to my PC's monitor I have a Mullard NORBIT 2 series 2NOR60 – twin 4 input NOR gate made with discrete components assembled on a potted PCB. 24V logic has better noise immunity than TTL logic. John
Late seeing it John. Yes, remember these well, made by Mullard – and the others in the series – 4NOR60, the timer (TU60?), filters (2SF60?) and power supply etc. Many are still in use I think – very reliable. Possibly the first logic integrated circuit?
Interestingly, they were really a common emitter stage with 82k in series on each input. You could make up the same with components and it took up less space!
This is a new one, Windows Live Mail 12, I suddenly find it is re-loading deleted emails back into the Inbox ? It did it twice yesterday morning. I put it up on the Talktalk Members Forum and have not had a reply yet. It is up on Google , i put it up and I am not the only one who has this problem but no answer there.
I run a Dell Desktop with Windows 8.1 which I can get along with OK.
Came into my office yesterday morning to find that it had installed Windows 10 without my knowledge or permission and only by declining the user agreement did it EVENTUALLY restore my OS to 8.1
I Googled 'how to stop this' and turned off the required item ( GWX) in the task bar preferences but just now came in to find that W10 was downloading again, managed to stop it but am now really worried it will happen again when I am out.
I am sure that I have software that will not run under W10 and am terrified that it will screw up my important files, some of which are very old. I have backed up regularly using Norton but I really don't need this stress which is not of my own making. Bloody MicroSoft!
Can anyone please tell me how to stop this happening for once and for good please?
I should add that I am no computer wizz, just a normal user who wants to do ordinary stuff but my business is on the machine (Excel & Quickbooks). I use Fusion 360, SketchUp, OutLook, Word, PhotoShop Elements, LightRoom, PaperPort, AcroBat etc all on a daily basis.
The machine is never switched off as we work on it at very odd times because of finishing times for or EBay business.
Just download and run "GWX Control panel" it is a free utility which removes all traces of the nagging Win 10 and any files it has downloaded and hidden on your PC.
I cleaned mine up with it about six weeks ago and have not seen Win 10 since.
