Went to send an email this morning and went to the contacts, and lo and behold it is empty!

Zilch, nothing, where have they gone? I do not have a copy. I am raking through bits of paper I save to find emaill addies as hest I can.

I did not do anything there like deleting or anything like that, I have always thought that list would be safe. No sign of any virus , nothing.

If you are using Outlook, a complete restart may recover them. It could be that the profile hasn’t completely loaded, from it’s ‘database’. Not the correct terms but it happens often on my work system. Worth a try!

There will be a database somewhere, just do a netty search for others who had the issue

Like firefox bookmarks disappearing, but it's usually in a .json file somewhere

I also have a spare drive on my pooter and copy "important" stuff over periodically to save these moments from being too disasterous

The lazy mans way to do it is copy your entire "desktop" over to the backup drive

Thanks all who replied, found a fix. I changed the sign in box to, 'not sign in' and the contacts list appeared again.
