      Hi everyone

So I am thinking of subscribing to MEW but not sure if just digital or print plus digital is the way to go.

I would like access to the archives but have loads of old ME magazines that are now just taking up space don't really want to add to them however when making something for me it's more practical to have a hard copy in the workshop….is it easy to print out hard copies from digital only? I have read on here problems with on line readers and pocket mags etc, dont want extra "computer" hassle!

So just wondering what the preferred subscription option is that all of you on here use….pros and cons……to help me choose

      Thanks and keep safe

      Derek

The paper copies do take up space so I only have the digital version now. It is possible to get a good print from pocketmags but only 2 pages at a time. And you will only have access while you are financial. So print anything you want to keep.

Can one not download pages from an electronic subscription? If so, are pages (saved as screenshots) any substantive lower quality than printing from the subscription?

Couple of points to put right.

You can get access to paid for issues via Pocketmags even after your subscription has ended.

Magzter won't give you access to the digital archive here nor will subscribing directly to Pocketmags

NDIY, yes you can download the whole mags from Pocketmags and a snip of the screen is readable but slightly lower quality..

Pages are sent to a printer from Pocketmags and are saved at a higher resolution than capturing from the screen. I use a pdf driver to save them in pdf or jpg format. I am able to select page size and the resolution (dpi) that I want to use. (But cannot be any higher res than the original document). The higher resolution than the screenshot, allows you to zoom in and see small details.

                      Thanks guys for your replies,

I think I will go for print and digital to see how it goes, and then maybe go digital only next time…I am assuming I can upgrade/downgrade my subscription package?

                      Thanks again!

                      Regards

                        Jason,

Are you talking about downloading magazines for viewing later using Windows 10. I am only running Win 7 and can't do it. Only print 2 pages.

I think I subscribe to both, but I must check as I've never accessed the digital subscription. I much prefer a hard copy that I can read when and where I want to. I know it's mine for keeps, and I can scan and print out individual articles.

When I want to build from an article I scan it, convert it to a text document, remove all the 'gravy' and reduce it to just the 'meat' with key text, photographs and diagrams. That way, I've got a succinct document with all the essential information, and by going through it in detail I gain understanding I might not otherwise have. That said, I could probably do the same with an electronic copy…

Paul, i was talking about the Pocketmags app on my W10 machine where I can view all my subscription copies even off off line, there is not the 2 page print option that you get when online via their site so have to snip or screen print etc each page.

                                    I’m not really sure Bandersnatch

                                    theres always a way

I’m was an avid magazine buyer but storage was becoming a problem…i just couldn’t throw them away

anyway things got auto a head and i got rid of all

The late JS had all my classic motorbike mags in the last 6 months of his life..i hope they eased his illness

since discovering Readly and Magzter i can read away without disappearing under mountains of paper

You won't get the archive, which goes back to 1995, unless you subscribe through this website (our on the phone to our helpful sales folks).

But we do get revenue payments from Magzter.

I would sooner subscribe via this official site and support ME and MEW as well as gain access to the archives.

Ian and Georgineer, I am going through the same process of rationalisation of all my volumes of ME's, was going to do this in the Summer but looks like the ideal time.

Going for print and digital for 6 months then decide.

Thanks for all the replies and comments to my post

Just a general q how do you get revenue from magzter?

if i read it all or just open the magazine

or just for it being available on the site to all?

                                          Ian
