I've obtained a 2nd hand Bosch angle grinder. The model id is on a stick-on label which is partially missing. What is visible reads 'nWS 6-115', but I think the 'n' is a 'P'.

The problem is, how do I apply the spindle lock? According to the only manual I could find, there is supposed to be a spindle-lock button, but I can't find it at all.

The photos show the grinder where the button should be visible, but where is it?

Probably came with a thin stamped out spanner about 12mm that fits over flats on the spindle just as it exits the machine.

          This shows the two spanners

My PWS 7-115 has a 17 mm Flat. The flat drives the rear washer unlike others that screw on. If not overtightened an appropriate blow on the normal spanner on the front nut may loosen it easily against just the motor inertia. Or just grip whatever disk or wire-brush is on it and undo the nut.

Tightening should only be enough not to have the wheel spin of. Once under load it will self tighten.

Thanks guys. I'll have to make suitable spanner.

My dad has this grinder, thin spanner required, I would guess you might find one on eBay for a quid or 2 delivered

The spindle lock on 99% of angle grinders (and cheap routers) is a waste of time anyway, they round off of stop working quite quickly. I've modded spanners to fit before now…

Yes ,I think there should be a thin spanner to lock the spindle. I have one such spanner kicking around for years, never quite sure what it was for, now I know !

Since my acquisition came with no proper means of changing discs I made a pair of spanners.

I have a couple of the 14mm ‘quick change’ disc nuts. For wire brushes I use a very heavy duty glove. Finding one spanner to fit is usually a pita. Never yet damaged a spindle lock.
