      Hi all,

hope someone can point me in the right direction here.  I recently had to clear out a family members house and found a Proxxon PD400 lathe, looks like it’s in pretty good condition.  Founds various chucks, chisels and other bits with it.  I know little to nothing about lathes and I would like to sell it, but really don’t know where to start.

can anyone make any recommendations on the best approach I can take to sell this?

      regards

      Mark

Hi Mark, you can always put it in the classifieds on this site, just click on the link in the blue band above, and follow the help advice.

          Regards Nick.

Two advantages of ebay.   One, the ad reaches a huge audience that probably includes many people who might see it here but a multitude who won’t.

Second, the site is designed to encourage competitive bidding which gets the best price.  This saves the seller having to work out what it might be worth and what to accept. Yes there is a charge on the seller but this is outweighed by the better price.

Just don’t allow local pickup and Paypal payment. If things go wrong you need paper proof of shipping. A photo from you of the exchange will not do!

If they pick up they can pay cash, so they have no proof of paying and can’t both have the item and scam the money back as well.

If you have a price in mind Homeworkshop.org.uk provides free advertising for model engineering and ancillary equipment although the site might appreciate a modest voluntary donation if your sale is successful.
