Evening, I need some conical washers, also known as cup & cone washer or spherical washer.

      M5 size.

Any my ideas where to get them, as I can't find them!

If you do a google search on M5 conical washers you will find a wide variety of suppliers and types of washers. Any industrial fastner stockist will have these, or know where to get them. We have one in Kingston upon Hull called F R Scott, who are very good, depends where you are in the country and what metal they need to be made of.

          Phil.

It's this type that I'm after:

Still unable to find any on google in the UK?

If it's for orthopaedic purposes then they are a specific stainless composition. Unlikely that is your intent when posting here but you could always call veterinary instrumentation – if they haven't got them they can always point you where. Not that I immediately figure what they are used for. Dynamic compression plates have an interesting grooved slot for each hole which matches to conical head screws placed neutrally or loading for compression rather than using screws needing a conical washer. But ortho stuff usually jumps from 4.5mm to 6mm.

                Just an example picture.

I just need the cup and cone function, not for orthopaedic purposes!

                  Chris,

It may be time to indulge in some pedantry …

Despite the description, that looks more like a spherical washer arrangement, than conical one.

… maybe you would get better UK results by searching for spherical.

Edit: This might be a good place to start looking.

Edit: Apologies Chris … I've just noticed that you did mention 'spherical" in your opening post. blush

WDS – **LINK** – first hit on the search term "M5 spherical washer" starts at M4 and 2BA

                      Concave and convex M5 washers

You beat me to it George. The correct name is indeed Belleville Washer.

The only reason I know this is that they are used in some Airgun Regulators.

                            Thanks for the replies.

I contacted one of the companies about minimum quantities and postage costs etc but got no reply.

Its probably easier to make my own I've realised, so I bought a 9mm ball end cutter and will make the other convex part on the lathe as I only need a couple of them.

                            Thanks.
