Anyone know of a cheap source for these “star” discs. Mine have nearly worn down all the way. This is the type of dresser I have. Bore is for a 1/4” bolt and I guess the discs were about an inch diameter, maybe a bit bigger?

I’ve tried that and the postage is often more than the cost of the wheels.

Last lot I got at work came from Cromwell, though as seems to be the norm now the same items are cheaper at Zoro

Those dressers were numbered. Can you give me a number or else hole size, OD and thickness ? I may be able to help you. Noel

Chester Hobby Store list 3 models from about £20. I believe it's free P&P for orders over £30.

Usual disclaimer – no connection etc.

                  Regards. Mike

There is a MachineMart about half a mile from a place I visit once a week so it’s actually cheaper for me to buy a whole new dresser. So much for repairing stuff etc.

Hi, this is the type I have, and I was lucky enough to get a small box-full of the wheels, discs rods and bushes that were destined for the scrap bin, which will last me out.

The brand name for that dresser n the US is Desmond. Maybe the same name in the UK.

Chuck the barbaric thing away and treat yourself to a diamond dresser.

The above dresser will rip much of the wheel off, useful when removing grroves etc. The dressing sticks and diamond dressers are more finesse, useful for touch ups. They also seem to make the wheel make the part hotter. Not as free cutting.. Horses for courses.

Mark has it ! the star wheel dresser is for making the wheel flat ish, use a diamond for this and you may well smash/ rip out the diamond. The diamond is really for final dressing but can make the wheel less free cutting and generate more heat. Noel.
