I am building a 5 inch duchess, and time has come to mount the coupling rods, however the drawings do not include the leading wheel crank pin detail.

From what I can make out, the leading wheel pins have a recessed fixing arrangement or the retaining cap is a form of screw, suffice to say I am not a fan of just bodging it as so far the loco is fairly close to prototype,

Does anybody have any information and or pictures of how the outer cap for the leading wheel crank pin is retained in full size, and if this is tricky to duplicate in scale then a suggested suitable workaround?

        Regards

        Simon

Basically a flat washer of dia 1/8" larger than the crank pin dia, c.s.k. to take a 2ba c.s.k. screw. The crank pin of course tapped to suit, Locktite in. Hope this helps.

Regards Gordon May p.s. washer thickness 0.070"
