…decided to a thread per item.

Ok this one might be trickier. Looks very made for a specific task. About 22cm long.

Home made tool and cutter grinder wheel dresser. The rod may have an industrial diamond still in the end. If others agree it is don’t try to use it on a wheel before reading up on the technique (no not youtube) or the diamond will disappear in a blink.

I would agree, it certainly looks like a diamond dresser for an industrial grinding machine and I  would heed Bayzle’s advice on use because it may not be just the diamond that disappears.

What is the measurement between centres of the two cylinders on the underside?

They have a semi-sine bar look to them, but it is difficult to think further to how they might be used in that context.

Its a sine bar diamond dressing attachment for a surface grinder used to dress precise angles on the wheel.

hmmm….considering I have no surface grinder this can go in the “whack some more oil on it and put in the very hard to reach box” 🙂 will have to see if I can find a info on one being used. I think there are more of the diamond tips too – will keep them all together with the tool.

YEP ! I’m with the rest, a sine bar diamond dresser. The diamond is a handy way to true an abrasive wheel but it MUST be used correctly. Noel.

There are some more of the diamond topped things but all diff diameters and much shorter

I wonder how it works in practice. The barrels are 10cm between centre’s but look at the pics. It’s more as I’d the slide along somewhere or locate on something. I’m confused.

Or Google ‘sine bar wheel dresser’ and all will be revealed. How the hell does AliExpress sell them for less than £30, it looks decent but is it accurate? The world has gone mad!

I just Googled like a good’un …I honestly can’t figure out how my exact one would be / has been used. The sine cylinders don’t have much of a space for slip gauges and are 50% holes for the screws and/or covered in wax. The orientation is also different to the ones I can find on the net.

I’m still sure it’s a sine bar diamond dressing attachment for a surface grinder but I can see your point, perhaps strip off the old wax and give us some not so close up pictures.

Basically the sine bar portion [the 2 rollers] is to set a slide at a specific angle, on this slide the diamond is mounted, the diamond is moved up and down the slide across the grinding wheel to generate the angle set by the sine bar.
