Banning is the lazy persons way of managing the world

Because of this, banning is particularly favoured by religions and politicians

In fact all governments can ever do is restrict freedoms – I suppose they can hand back the freedoms taken away by a previous administration, but no examples come to mind.

I don't know about ban, but those two Shaublin classifieds look a bit dodgy. Apologies to the seller if they're genuine.

Neither do I, but they look like they could be trade ads to me so they are suspended until I get evidence they are a private sale.

EDIT: This does appear to be a genuine bereavement sale.

I would ban McDonalds from selling anything to take away because a number of lazy, disrespectful, mindless idiots consume the stuff and then throw their sh*t out without as much as a single thought. End of rant.

I want to impose a ten thousand pine fine for any cyclists riding two abreast on the public higfhway and a twent thousand pound fine for horse riders doing the same. They might currently have the right to do so (sadly both do) but that doesnt mean thats its a safe thing to do.

I don't really want to ban anything, just want leaving alone to do what I want and not upset anyone else.

Have you considered the practice perfectly safe but that it might just be the moronic drivers who are not safe.

Mind you i do sometimes wonder why horse riders cannot just go & gallop round a field instead

I don't mind as long as it's just yours. A better idea would be to include an IQ test as part of the driving test. Less than 150 – auto fail.

Ban Backpacks from all indoor areas, except when used by the Emergency Services.

Ban the word "like" from being spoken unless it is in the correct context.

That will do for now or I might go into full G.O.G. mode.devil

I am fully aware that many of the energy forms I quoted are not 'green' but the point I was making was that there is widespread 'support' of green energy (and we all need energy) but there appears to be equal oppostion to any form of energy production.

What is green energy anyway, many people don't look at the overall energy cost.

As I said with my follow up post it is mainly me being an old grump.

I was saying to my son the other day I wish I had some of the mentality I had when I was a teenager, the bit that enables you to sail through life without being irritated by:- loud music, garden fires, barking dogs, people who can't drive, 'sophisticated' people who are extremely stupid………..

Well, that to me just sounds like being a contrarian,

so long as you're in the outside group you feel comfortable. It's implied to be more of a state of mind, or psychological rather than a genuine philosophy, feeling like whoever has the biggest voice is always wrong, simply because it's the biggest.

Then again, wasn't it Reagan (ray-gun!) who said that the majority was actually the quietest group of people? I can well believe that.

I have to confess (if you hadn't guessed) that I was more in tap-room than tea-room mode when I started this thread. Light the blue touch paper and retire (to at least 20 metres). It's been interesting reading though. Apart from individual gripes about other people's irritating behaviour, there seems to be a feeling that education is the thing. Which is what I think.

Sometimes I don't notice my little dog sneaking into my work area -but she's had one sniff at a blue hot chip coming off the lathe (she sees things as potentially edible, pointless, or threatening) , didn't fancy it and now sits six foot away if she wants to watch. Animal intelligence!

Random amounts of extra time in football matches. Stopping the clock during breaks in play would be fairer.
