Without getting to technical what web browser are members using, I have just rest my laptop and decided not to load so much I was before using Chrome as my main browser but also used IE as Sky go doesn't play with Chrome ! I briefly tried Mozilla but didn't use it that much to form an opinion, so until I make my mind up I'm using Edge so suggestions welcome please.

Been using Firefox for years now, it does what I need (currently on 49.0.1)

I should caveat that I'm still on XP…

Also Firefox on Windows 10, does most things OK but has the occasional strop with opening PDF's.

Firefox 50.1.0 and occasionally Chromium, in fact anything other than Internet Explorer or Edge!

Firefox on both Linux and Windoze machines thus providing a consistent man/machine interface.

Normally Opera on my various PCs, though I might use two browsers at the same time if I want to log onto two different accounts simultaneously. e.g. two different "Gmail" email accounts.

Just make sure your chosen browser also lets you gain admin access to your router before you need to. It's a bit of an issue if you can't get on-line before doing something vital to the router, but being off-line stops you downloading an appropriate browser.

I also useChrome, Firefox or Dolphin Jetpack on my Android, depending on which displays the web site best at the time.

Having read all of the above, I've come to the conclusion that people who know me are right, and I am both eccentric and weird. I hardly dare admit it, but I actually like Microsoft Edge, as supplied with Windows 10. OK, I'll go and crawl back under my stone………………

I use Edge on windows 10 and also Chrome. The pop ups claim greater battery life and speed using Edge as opposed to Chrome. Not sure I could notice though.

Not heresy at all Mike. Unlike Internet Explorer, Edge has had some very positive reviews. If I was Windows 10 only I'd seriously consider it, but only after checking the privacy settings and switching Cortana off. One negative is the shortage of plug-ins but even there the more desirable Ad Blockers are available.

For what it's worth I prefer Firefox. It does an excellent job on both Windows and Linux and has a consistently good track record across a balance of features, plug-in availability, security, performance, compatibility, resource consumption and reputation etc. When comparing browsers it's worth remembering that their relative qualities vary with time and that temporary overtaking is common.

Just a reminder that Yahoo groups works better with something other than IE. Still an awful interface but IE jumps back to the start at each advert change.

That surprised me as well at first but then I realised that I often browse websites on my tablet or smartphone using the built in default browser. Those browsers show up as Chrome or Safari.

Firefox on XP, keep trying chrome, and keep not liking it and going back to firefox, I also used thunderbird, mozillas email client, and it is superb in the way it deals with spam, but unfortunately there seems to be a bug where occasionally, instead of deleting just thr spam, it deletes the whole inbox contents, so I alternate between Outlook express and thunderbird.
