Excuse me ! ours is not a decaying legacy, it has just had a £2 million refurb' had a new glass sided gondola modification, a glass sided lift to the top for all to view Teesside & the surrounding countryside, it is fully functional, in daily use, gets maintained in good order every year & is one of the North East's unmissable landmarks… my avatar is one view of it… no comparison!

& no where near as ugly as the one in Nick's pics.Come up here & have a look see for yourself.

        George… Smoggielander!

Just received ebay 'offers' including these O-Rings at what looks like a very reasonable price.

Funnily enough, when I first saw the pics I immediately thought 'Newport'.

I have a box of those, they're very good and he also does four other different boxed selections.

Lidl are selling selection boxes metric or imperial at the moment. About twice as many in the box.

They were also selling a set of 24" and 36" crowbars for £10 last week. A bit rough and ready but they aren't for watch making…

                      .

Thus, I suppose, confirming the reasonable-ness of the price.

I have about 6 different boxes of O rings all different some metric some imperial some odd sized ones but still didn't have the size I needed to fix the bathroom shower, I would say that your better off buying the ones you need at the time rather than accumulating more stuff you may never use.

They work out about the same per ring, but some folks may find Lidl more convenient.

Shaking my head at the chutzpah of an Ebay seller.

Ordered a book on Saturday, marked as despatched on Monday, down as deliver by Thursday to Monday (yesterday) – fair enough.

As only coming from a few tens of miles away, on Friday I went back and checked the delivery date, and thought I'd look at the feedback.

Mostly positive feedback, but one or two negative and some very cryptic neutral ones.

What was odd – about a quarter(!) of the positive feedback I read was people saying how good the seller had been at sorting out non-delivery of the goods.

What was even odder was an email later that day asking if I had received the goods AND offering a replacement – before they were due to arrive.

A few more emails over the weekend and one yesterday telling me a replacement had been posted.

Now the really interesting part is they use UKMAIL – their small packet is Royal Mail for the 'last mile' and advertised as taking several days. They also track until it reaches Royal Mail, but the seller did not respond top my query about a tracking number.

I smell something fishy, but as nearly everyone gets their goods in the end I'm not sure what is going on. Are they stockpiling orders then sending out once a fortnight?

It's obvious they are hopeless at posting the goods out on time, but why not be honest about the extended delivery time?

                              Neil

Books again – I was browsing the book shelves this afternoon in our local Emmaus charity outlet and with great delight found these two.
