I,v come into hristchurch for Christmas dinner tomorrow, and in the 2 1/2 blocks between my sisters place, and the super market there are only 5 trollies on the footpath, a few more further down the street.

had a bit of a shake(earth quake) this evening, first I'v felt for a while.

          Ah Bill

I've not seen your posts for some time.

I suspect that the reason for the apparent unconcern at W——e is that the domestic staff that shop there are so used to carrying " stuff" out to the Roller that there is no need for them to use the trolley method.

In the event that the staff are not available to shop then, of course, one would not object to the firms employees loading the goods into one of those funny little carts and taking it to the car for one. The cost of this would, no doubt, be allowed for in the price of the goods.

Yes it is nearly Christmas and I'm totally cream- crackered from vacuuming, dusting and polishing.

Hope you, and all other readers here, have a good Christmas and get at least ONE workshop related pressy.

          Regards

          Norman

            .

Probably makes the trolley worth pinching for the wheels.

When your 15-year-old daughter wants a record player with Abbey Road and Led Zep IV, there can't be too much wrong with the world

I just have to keep my vinyl safe now!

                  Neil,

My 33 year old daughter has been converting my collection for ages onto CD for use in her car for several years and most of that is heavy rock, Turkey cooked ready for boxing day, were all traveling to my sisters tomorrow so not a lot else to do.

Not far off, they make 'retro' modern Dansette-style record players these days!

My Dansette morphed into a guitar amp, and ended up in the case of a former Trough-Line FM receiver (sacrilege I hear you cry!) as one of the first ever'real valve distortion units'.

I remember the Dansette record players and radio grams very well (repaired a few in my time), and those rotary type controls!

Somewhere in our loft there is an old reel to reel tape recorder with very similar controls, one day I might finish the project to replace them, I did have a few ideas for using ordinary pots with friction drive from the rotary block, other things have got in the way since though.

Just been outside to watch the ISP pass over, it will pass over again at 18:58 travelling from west to east looking south, will be on view for one minute.

Well I've been putting cables through the loft etc today from my Freesat dish to a couple of tv boxes, an extra trip to Maplins was needed, because I only measured once not twice!

Anyway it's all up and running now and we can watch and record programmes in HD.

Just had an Email that Axminster tools have started their sale, now off to look at their website.

Last night the front porch light started flickering, After 15 years of service I am not surprised, bought new tube and started to remove the bezle and the allen screws were stuck/corroded. A quick squirt of PTFE spray soon sorted them out and its brighter that the last one.

Executed a carefully timed raid on Waitrose this evening:

Spent less than £35 on a range of produce which, earlier in the day, would have cost about £150.

… As with buying tools: It's how you shop that matters.

However i was able to point her at ME suppliers for diamond files which are a expensive from the craft suppliers. Ketan you might check out opportunities here including brass and steel supplies, and copper for enamelling. Her new kiln can reach cast iron normalising temperature and burn out wax smile d

I went to W*S today and decided to buy a copy of 'woodworking plans and projects'. I do however offer many apologies to my model engineering colleagues for such deviant behaviour!.

I tried the self-scan checkout, but was surprised to find the material was classified as 'restricted' and a staff member was required to attend. I waited at least a couple of minutes and there was no sign of said staff member appearing (no surprise there then).

I therefore went to the attended checkout, where it was confirmed that this was indeed restricted material. I presume this magazine is considered adult material, and includes advanced stuff, such as perhaps a picture of a router bit!

I am looking forward to reading it later! devil

Added "Z probe" routines to my two CNC mills; I simply unplug the touch probe, plug in a probe made of PCB material and an alligator clip that goes on the tool. (actually, to be honest, I've still to make the PCB/alligator clip – I had a bit of copper clad PCB somewhere – can't find it! My touch probe point unscrews, and it came with a round table that I'm using to test)
