Some Radiolarian 'chalk' from the Barbados deposits [see my 3D Graphing thread] from which I will, in due course, extract many, many, individual specimens.

On the subject of the very small … here is a snowman: **LINK**

Well I must admit to cheating a little….

2 weeks ago I popped into Arc and bought 2 dro's and scales for my 626 mill and 11-27 lathe and a set of ripper end mills, as a present for me from me…..but I also added a couple of tool holders and a drill chuck arbor….

The in- laws gave me some cash which was duly spent on a selection of centre drills while I was there…'Er -indoors' wrapped them up and placed under the tree…..

So quite a good Christmas for me in terms of tooling…

the Grandkids excited and joyously shrill.
                  And under the tree
                  even something for me
Yes, Santa had left me his bill.

Amongst other things a very posh rucsack/camera bag, a 'Wallet Ninja', a book of 'Trumpisms' and a painting by my brother  The greens have been sucked out by the lighting a bit.

Santa has been nice this year… Keats angle plate, external threading tool with 60* tip + 55* tip, – RDG tools… 4 piece set small hole gauges, set of 4 diamond mini stones, 1/2" machine reamer, – Arc Euro…. usual disclaimers.

A Hemingway kits 'Dynamic tool post grinder'. I may even do a build thread on this one

I ordered this a bit late but just had an email today from Kirk to say it will be with be before the end of the week. As always, Kirk goes out of his way with customer service, big plus for Hemingway yes

I will be deviating from the suggested construction methods originally used as all of the milling operations were done on a Myford lathe, I will be doing these on My Ajax turret mill

I got a surprise trowel. This one from Axminster surprise It is more like a Crocodile Dundee knife. Although dished like a trowel it is super sharp one side and serrated ad sharp the other. I'm sure HSE will ban them soon.

The people who invited me to xmas dinner also gave me take-away for tomorrow's EDMES track session. face 1

Wohoo! I got my first lathe at last ! It's an axminster diet c2a 300w (second hand)

I haven't used a lathe since I was in college 25 years ago so I've got some learning and refreshing to do

All I wanted was one of those fancy spinning tops that spinfinity do, but after my oh saw the price she thought it would be better to get me a lathe to make my own !!

So, does anyone know any books or instructions of some sort as to how I go about making one? I think I have a lot of learning to do ahead of me, going to order a 6" 50mm ria chunk of copper bar and see how I get on (has anyone on here made one before??)

Free cutting copper is available, I think it has sulphur added. When I was working we used it for electrode making for our spark erosion machines. Here in the midlands it is available from the EDM (spark erosion) suppliers. Erodex and Graphite Technologies are two I can remember buying from.

I never get anything engineering related from Santa, just the usual socks, T shirts and those awful foreign soft centred chocolates.

So this Christmas I treated myself to a new hydraulic bike lift, plus yet another BSA motorcycle to go on top of it.

And a New Years resolution is to try and finaly get that Red Wing engine in the background finished.

As it turns out I bought myself a 3 in 1 welder. My wife bought me compressor to go with it and for other things and my son bought me a drone I have wanted for some time. The order was messed up so transmitter arrived but the drone will come latter. Then bits and bobs. Socks, some chocolate that will last rather a long time and an XL Nike sweat shirt. Bit baggy in a couple of places but will probably be ok when washed. Their xl's usually are.

A percentage of folks are very sensitive to a chemical produced when sprouts and cabbage are well cooked.

I love raw cabbage or stir-fried cabbage and am happy to eat broccoli raw or cooked, but even the thought of cooked sprouts or boiled cabbage makes me feel queasy. I guess Fizzy and I share the sprout-intolerance
