Hi, I'm building the D & NY in 2in scale, and I'm now building the tender and bunker water tank. In the text it states that the boss on top of the tank for the pump return also incorporates the water level indicator, I seem to be missing something. frown How do you see the water level or know how much is in the tank???

Some body please explain this to me as this is my first traction engine build.

      Thanks

Not familiar with that engine but some had a vertical tube that took a rod with a float (cork) on it that would indicate water level.

Could it use a cork float on a spiral rod to drive a rotary indicator ? I know some old mowersand outboard motor fuel tanks used this system .

                Garry,

Not sure about your engine but some have a float that lifts a rod to indicate level. The full size Fowler TE that I drive just has a dip stick as do many others. On my model I made an external indicator for the water height by making banjo pipe fittings and some clear plastic hose.

                Paul.
