Water filters for 7-1/4″ gauge tender.

A model-engineering colleague of mine is building a 7-1/4" locomotive, and I mentioned in passing that I read that the "new thing" for larger locomotives are pre-made cartrige filters, rather than creating something at home with brass mesh, etc.

As I'm not into the larger model locomotives, can someone direct us to what kind of filters are used, and how, etc?
