        Hi there!

My name is Pete Mortlock and I hail from Burton on trent in Staffordshire.

I've been involved with modelling for most of My life, all disciplines of aero modelling ,lately model boats ( yachts mainly), but I have always wanted to do model engineering when I grew up!smiley

Anyway, retirement is on the horizon,so I thought it was about time I got serious,so I've invested in a Myford Super 7 .

From looking through the very helpful forums on this great site, and from the serial number, I've got it down to a 1960/61 Mk1 with the early Quick change box, drip feed oiler on headstock and early style clutch.

I will do a specific post about it shortly, got problems with My own main hydraulic circulation pump at the moment (day after I picked the lathe up!sad)

I look forward to bring involved in the forums and this greatest of hobbies!

        Cheers, Pete

                              Hi Morty,

At 60 you are no more than a young fella, don't let anyone tell you otherwise !

My GP keeps telling me to remember my age when I ask him about anything. I don't know what he,s on about since I,m only 80 plus. My Mother lived to be 97 and could still give out stick, so you have a long way to go.

The next few years will pass quick enough and then you can do all the things you really want to do. Also, you will wonder how you ever had time to work in the first place. I,m not sure what I do all day, but it takes me all day to do it.

It,s great ,you can stop any time you feel like it, no starting time ,no clock to watch, what more could you want ?

Set your shop up, and when the time comes ,just ENJOY !!

                                Welcome Morty!

LOTS of help and advice available here, just ask! Someone will advise or even provide hands on help, possibly of the "Your place or mine" variety.

Once you do retire, you will wonder how you had time to got work! But keep at it, as you will always find some additional gadget that "Will come in handy, one day", either to make or buy.

The making will provide much satisfaction, especially if it is an item which is bespoke for the task, or machine, that you have in hand.

In Burton on Trent, you are probably not too far from one of our moderators.

                                Howard

Larry, thanks for making Me feel like a spring chicken again!blush

And Howard, when I'm at work nowadays, all I think about is "I could be doing something a bit more useful than this!",so I am greatly looking forward to clocking out for the last time!

I've heard say about 'how did I find time to work', because People don't want You to get bored,They think up ways to 'relieve Your boredom'……………I think the best advice I was given is to hide……..where better than in Your workshop!

Yes, I think Neil is close to My Local, look forward to conversing with Him!

Many.many thanks for the warm welcome! Cheers, Pete
