Warco wm250 – wiring issue

Hi all bit of help – lathe had stopped working – traced it to a loose brown wire going into a white 8 block connector at the back – fixed that – but it again came loose so again reattached it only to find a yellow wire coming out of the same block had detached and I cannot see where it goes/connects to it seems to be the continuation of the black wires from the micro switch that controls the cut off when you lift the protection screen – I can see one of the yellow wires coming out of the block joins into a circuit board but the other is free hanging – any help? If you are looking at the block there are two blacks wires that are connected to yellow wires and it is the second yellow wire in that has disconnected

wiring diagram is apparently not for the brushless motor and hasnt been updated  – apparent in china they dont wire using colour codes !!!! i will post pic

Doubtless the screw will be loose in the offending hole – an easy diagnosis if all the others are secure and tight.

That was my thought and how I found the first loose brown wire – unfortunately there are no obvious loose screws or empty holes lol – the only but is the blue wire going into the spade connection on the circuit lard marker outN when I pulled very gently on it it came out making me suspect the yellow wire was in this connection as well – considering all the other spade connectors have 2 wires makes this seem logical but I don’t want to risk connections the offending yellow wire and blow something- live in Northern Ireland so dont see warco coming to fix it even though it’s only 2 months old

As your lathe is under warrenty your first port of call is with Warco, it is their problem. Give them a ring, I have found them very helpful in the past with issues I have had both in and out of warrenty.

Cheers Dave did ring but got a guy in spares who said that the Chinese wiring wasn’t colour coded and I need to trace the wires – luckily I was able to see it’s the safety screen micro switch- sent him an email with pics etc but thought I would ask on here – cheers

Got sorted as I thought the yellow wire linked into the blue out/N – the scary thing is that it seems no two lathes may have the same wiring colours – when they checked a machine on the shop floor there were no yellow wires or white 6 block connector must admit I was concerned with the routing of the wires from the speed controller to the back of the machine passing under a turning part. Bring back good old British engineering

Hi all

Is there anyone in the Cambridge area who can help get the wiring of a wm 250 sorted out?

It has served me very well until the lathe part stopped. Checked the limit switches and obvious wiring fault possiblities.

The nice people at Warco sold me pcb but that did not work out. As said above there are no colour codes and although I thought that I did the replacement carefully I may have blundered

However I now have a short circuit that blows the rear fuse violently.

Blundering about I notice that the earth lead on the outside of the front fuse has come unsoldered.

I took the trouble to photograph the pcb before removal so will have yet another careful look see.

Hi Michael. It is always better to start a new thread to avoid confusing 2 issues. It will get very confusing when people reply to either issue.

I agree with Oldiron that you should start your own thread. Also I seem to remember seeing information on three versions of the WM250 One uses a fixed speed single phase induction motor. Another uses a DC motor with a speed controller and yet another uses a three phase motor driven by a VFD. It would help it you tell us which version you have. Put that information in the first post of your new thread.
