Hi I hope you experts out there can help me with issues my friend is having with his WM180 lathe.
This problems started when he had to start helping the motor up to speed (if you like, kick starting the machine with a helping hand).
After a while the motor stopped all together and would not run at any speed.
No blow fuses skicky or worn brushes etc.
We tried testing the speed control board using a 60w lamp as a load and using the speed control pot as a dimmer switch. This worked ok except the lamp was just about lit with the speed control at zero.
Putting everything back together the motor would run up to around 1100rpm but would also keep running at 200rpm when the speed pot was at zero.
I understand that there are high and low adjustments on the speed control board (the one installed from Warco is made by Yanzhou JYMC-220A-I) also sometimes the speed pot has rough spots which may cause these issues. But I have scanned various forums and not solution suggested if these adjustment don’t work.
Has anyone else have this problem and what’s the fix?
Look for to your replies many thanks.
