I have several Wanner grease guns and state without fear of contradiction that the Thread IS 1/8" BSP- 28 TPI and 55* incAngle. Noel

Wanner grease gun, mine goes back to my early motoring days and was my pride and joy, looking back I can't believe I could afford it then, no idea how much it cost then but it couldn't have been cheap I assume, cheap far eastern stuff didn't exist then. Also bought a set of Wihiworth ring spanners, made in Poland and 60 years later still unmarked.

You ,learn something new almost every day!

To think that it took over 60 years in engineering to be told that there are 25.4 mm in one inch!

Yes, my one Wanner is the same.

If you didn't know (I didn't) it would be easy to put a metric pitch gauge on it and say it was an unusual M10 x 0.9mm

My 50+year old wanner has had numerous new chucks and fexi pipes – non wanner so it would appear that it is an industry standard at 1/8"BSP. The thread may well be pipe thread because the tube is a steel pipe. Many things still have old British threads(cameras) and stick to what may seem out dated imperial size or forms but the cost of change for no real benefit is pointless. In my hydraulic work the least used type/thread is metric, BSP being the commonest, then JIC, then there's JIS just for fun ! A careful check of thread pitch and dia, and if it seems odd then check for old standards rather than an ODD metric,Tthe world is a long way from being wholly metric and may never be so !

                I was just saying how I knew it wasn't a 1mm pitch.

I successfully made my adapter, It's towards the bottom of page 22 on the 'What did you do today 2021' thread, if anyone's interested. I know I could have bought one from Wanner, but they wanted £30+ and, anyway, where's the fun of buying what you can make for yourself ?

As a separate question – is it possible to post a link from a posting in one thread to another thread ?

As a red herring across this thread, having damaged the end fitting on my Reilang Oil can< i contemplated making a replacement.

The female thread in the neck appears to be 8 – 32 UNC.

                        Am I correct?

In fact, by turning a chamfer of the end of the nozzle, it was possible to reclaim it, and ensure a good seal on the ball oilers on the lathe and milling machine.

Hm…That would presumably copy and paste the contents of the original post to a post in another thread. What I want to do is put a link to the original post into the new thread, so that clicking on that link would open the original post in the original thread, instead.
