I just discovered this info about the Voyager 2 mission.

Launched 44 years ago, and now about 11 billion miles away it is still chatting to astronomers in 2022.

Given the technology of of the late 1970's (compared to nowadays) it is a great legacy to the people whom had the passion, dedication and expertise to devise such an adventure into the unknown. Voyager 2

Here is a better site about Voyager 1 and 2. There is no advertising, and is not on Y-tube. Also, I think that the information presented is coming from "the horse's mouth!"

The power of Plutonium-238! It's power budget is going to determine how much longer it stays alive and chatting. I read that the RTG has around 67% of its original power output and loses about 4 watts per year. It's projected to be DOA by 2030. She was a good ship! I still have the glossy photo of Neptune that it took.

As Danny says, a wonderful tribute to her designers, builders and operators!

Hi, maybe the aliens have been humouring us and have been patching it up when we weren't looking. devil

But yes a very good achievement and good insight sending them when all the planets were in the right place at the right time, to help boast them on their way. I do remember all the criticism about the waste of money back then it all was though.

                  Regards Nick.

Thanks for that Danny (can't be bothered with the YouTube hassle these days -always skip those links).

They knew how to build them back then!
