I have a xsy-at1 inverter which I have been using for a few years without a problem. I needed to move the motor and inverter. I am now getting error code 1 and the inverter does not work. Are there any suggestions as to what I can do? I have checked the wiring and there are no loose connections.

Should I just buy a better quality inverter? Can anyone recomment an appropriate one for a TEC 0.75kw 4 pole motor, model model MS2 802-4.

What does the manual say about this error code?

Based on the information posted about these inverters on myCNCuk (here) error code 1 corresponds (cryptically) to "Module Protection", which seems to be talking about the power module and correspond to a short circuit or current overload.

^^^ Which suggests that there might be a whisker of wire shorting out the VFD after the move!

I have checked all the wires and have disconnected them and reconnected them, but it still does not work. The manual says that you can reset by going to P77 and entering 12345, but I cannot understand how to enter 12345.

Can anyone recommend a replacement, preferably with good and simple instructions? Also, that are available quickly, Inverter Drive Supermarket shows delivery times of many weeks for some VFDs that have been recommended on this site For example the Eaton DE1 0.76kw VFD shows 8 weeks delivery time.

WEG inverters get my vote. Reliable, reasonable price and simple to set up. Inverter supermarket have a quick set up guide for these inverters that anyone could follow.

Maybe disconnect the motor and see if the error code appears?

                      +1

The error code indicates that the VFDs output has been shorted, which coupled with the motor and VFD being moved, suggests a wiring problem. Check all the wires:

                      • Connection to the right terminals at both ends
                      • No damaged insulation, particularly where wires run along the metal work or through grommets
                      • No whiskers
                      • Don't assume wires that weren't touched during the move are OK. It doesn't take much of a tug over a sharp edge to slice through plastic insulation, so follow the entire loom looking for trouble,

If disconnecting the motor at the VFD fixes the Error Code, it's highly likely there's a wiring problem. It's possible a short blew the VFD but with luck the electronic protection was fast enough to protect it.

No harm in trying a reset, but make a note of the current settings first. On this type of control pad, numbers are usually entered with the arrow keys (ringed):

                      controlmodule.jpg

With this system, you don't enter 54321 as single digits like a caculator. Instead pressing the arrow keys cause the number to count up up or down until the value is reached. Tapping the up arrow should add 1, holding down should increment slowly at first, then speed up. The down arrow does the same, except it subtracts 1.

It may be quicker to get down to 54321 from 0 with the down key.

These keypads can be a bit fiddly so experiment.

                      Good luck,

                      Dave

+! for SoDs explanation – I have the same inverter, and had to reset some problem a while ago – SoDs procedure is exactly what I did. – except the reset code was 12345, not 54321.

I have tried reseting it and it still does not work.

I will probably buy from Inverter Drive Supermarket as they have next day delivery. I need to know what day it will arrive. I was considering buying an inverter and motor package from Newton Tesla, to save on wiring, but as far as I can see there is no certainty on which day it will be delivered.

It is for a mirror making machine and I will probably add an over arm at some point, for which I would need another motor and vfd.

I will get a Weg inverter. Do I need one that is filtered, or is unfiltered OK? Weg CFW G2 0.75kW 230v costs £89.87 and is unfiltered. There is the Weg CFW500 G2 which is filtered and costs £213.73

I aasume both of these would be OK for my TEC 0.75kW 3 phase motor? Do I need a pendant? If so could someone please recommend one for the above drives which is easy to connect? I have been using my current inverter with just the buttons on the inverter, but maybe this is not a good idea?

Just give Newton tesla a ring and get them to organise next day or timed slot delivery, might just cost a tad more.

Several of my friend bought a Huanyang 2.2KW inverters, from you know where for around £80, that was 4 or 5 years ago and to the best of my knowledge all are working fine. I know that doesn't sort your inverter problem but a lot of difference between £200 and £ 80 for what amount to almost the same thing Do we home workshop type need all the bells and whistles John

You don't need to buy a ready made pendant for these WEG inverters. Wiring stop, start, direction and speed is ridiculously easy. You can download a quick start guide from Inverter supermarket. You may find the filtered ones cause tripping on a home supply. I have four unfiltered ones and they work flawlessly. Actually, I have a couple that I need to sell and upgrade due to buying larger machines. I'm Dorset based.
