      OK lets call it UNSAFE Voltage. Anything over about 50V is considered unsafe A VFD with 240 VAC and > 300V DC on the teminals is UNSAFE.

      A VFD will not meet BS EN IEC 60335-1 or similar without an enclosure and other parts.

        I believe BS EN IEC 60335-1 would only be applicable to a VFD in this instance if you class a lathe or milling machine as an “appliance”, surely they fall into the machine category.

          I said “or similar”. If the machine is being used in a domestic environment so these generic requirements are the minimum / simplest. You could of course apply BS ISO EN 60204-1 but it has even more requirements.
