Hi Bill, it just looks like the picture posted by perk4.

Fulmen, I purchased this to help me complete the smokebox. I am almost at the stage of needing the table. What gets my goat is that the table took three weeks to get to me, and I was told by VEVOR uk the delay was because they checked it all in the uk before sending out. It’s just been one lie after another with them so far.

        ……………….

If you mean peak4, that’s me (also with fat fingers 🙂 ) but I haven’t posted any pictures.
Journeyman has, but only of a partially assembled spindle.
I was trying to see which bit you’ve removed on your specific table to see if I can spot anything obvious, having just stripped my Vertex 6″ one.

Sorry got the name wrong. I can not see anything wrong. I have removed all that I can. But it sure looks like there is bend a bit in the worm drive caseing. If I take a pair of stilsons and have one holding the outer worm gear casing I can just about turn the inner handle drive, but it’s very hard to do.

OK, This guy hasn’t fully stripped his table as it rotated OK.
In my case, the grease had set to almost being a thread locker, so I needed to strip and clean it
I still don’t know how far you’ve stripped yours.
Have you removed the collar/lever which rotates the main spindle housing, there are some grub screws and it comes off complete with the lever & 60-0-60 collar; there could be an extra grub screw under the lever.
On my Vertex, that needs to come off, because it hides a plate with 8 tapped holes. Four Allen Cap heads and four Allen grub screws. Remove the cap heads only; the grub screws are the play adjustment for the spindle housing.

Hard to see in the video, there is another grub screw here; that needs to come a long way out, not just loosened.

After that, I think the spindle housing and the worm-screw/spindle come out as one.
Mine certainly did, but the spindle still wouldn’t turn easily due to the congealed grease.
Also the threaded black locking collar was nipped up too much
Obviously that collar(s) needs removing, and the spindle should push out of its eccentric hole in the housing.

Just an update. VEVOR just don’t want to know. I have found that this is common when you have a problem. Anyway today I was able to get the worm drive out and knock out the inner spindle. It was easy to see the first problem. The bore of the casting was not only off centre but there was a small lip inside the bore. The second problem was that the bearings where completely shot. I was about to rebore the casting both making sure it was all in line and the lip removed. I purchased new bearings and now it works ok. But to be honest I did not enjoy the work, I want to get be locomotive sorted. Don’t think I will be buying VEVOR again

                Congratulations on fixing it, Michael

                and commiserations on the purchase.

VEVOR seems to be the very definition of a ‘Box-Shifter’

Glad you’re sorted but a genuine question “The bore of the casting was not only off centre” which casting?

Well VEVOR I think have no intention of allowing a return, they have just put their reply on automatic which is a tactic they use in America I have found out. After taking a good look at the casting holding the handle shaft that drives the worm gear I found that the casting was indeed miss formed, that and the useless bearing made it an act of God to turn the handle. To correct the fault I had to make one end of the casing bore oversize by 2.5mm and change the bearing before I could get any movement at all of the hand wheel. Anyway it’s sorted now.

Bill there is nothing to see, it all looks correct to the eye, it’s only after trying to turn the inner shaft with one end out of the casting that you see the problem. I have machined all that needed to be machined and put it all back together now.

At least you have now got the Rotary Table to a condition wheren it does what you need, even if it no longer conforms to the original drawings (Not that it did when you received it!)

It must be very satisfying to have made a “silk purse” out of a “sow’s ear”.
