I’ve just taxed my ratty old Suzuki … affectionately known as ‘The Skip’ [because it only gets used for runs to the Tip]

The process was delightfully simple in every respect … but at £385.00 the rate of expenditure was frightening.

When an electric car is plugged in to a commercial charging point I assume you have to have an account set up with the charging system and an app of course like with car parks. Does it ‘phone home’ to DVLA to confirm the car is taxed and insured? If not I bet it soon will be introduced.

I like it! Though I don’t suppose the DVLA staff don’t set the rates, and I expect many of them would agree with you!

The charging-points are supposed to have alternative payment methods and looking at a few, this seems to be happening now; but it was supposed to have been by law some years ago, not long after they started to appear.

I’m devastated, in January next year I’ll have to pay £20 VED for my 10 year old 2l SUV.
