Wow, progress getting ahead of me. I thought Rotabroach was for people with mag drills, hole saws were for people with Black and Deckers and those of us using lathes had to grind up fancy trepanning tools because we could. I remember some chap in Model Engineer cutting 3 gears out of one piece of metal for a traction engine. Obviously the way a real man would do it 🙂

I’m not sure why but I seem to have got a whole string of PMs from Jason – most nothing to do with me ! I don’t claim to understand how this lot works but I don’t think it should be doing that ?  Noel.

Jason. Something VERY odd is going on ! One that caught my eye was a reply about the Denford starmill BUT NOW THEY’VE ALL GONE ! I had been under the immpression that the forum had helped me maintain my sanity but now I don’t know ? Noel.

Just worked oK for me Bill. Have another go incase it was just a temporary glitch. You should be able to click noel shelley above the blank avatar and that brings up his profile, click the “private message” box and the username will come up automatically highlighted yellow. Don’t enter anyone else in the box next to it, just come down and enter subject and down again for text

Thanks, Jason. It seems to have worked this way.

What I was doing originally was going to the messages tab in my profile and clicking “compose”. No matter what I put in the “Send To (Username or Friend’s Name)” box, it just didn’t recognise it as a valid recipient. It still doesn’t.

Thanks Bill, not the way I do it so just tried and got the same problem, it is the @……… that needs to go into the box but copy and pasting that got the same error message you did.

Hi Jason, Bill has reached me but yesterday at my first attempt to see his or your reply I had all the replies you had made to the forum ie one about the denford Etc. The next time I looked they had all gone ! Not very private messages ! Something had gone badly wrong ! May be no surprise at the moment ? Noel.

Noel, you are likely to get a list like that if you click the sender’s name rather than the subject. If they were replies to the forum then they are public anyway. If You got the 2nd message then offer about drawing still stands.
