Something you may not see every day

I recently finished this scratch built model of the F35 Lightning Ejection Seat.

Helped by the Martin Baker Ejection seat company who provided some images for me to work with. I have made two of these, one for MB which is not as detailed as this. And this which I have added as much detail as poss for my own satisfaction.

But how far do you go !! frown

      Thank you for looking in.

      Carl

Looking forward to seeing it in a model and ejecting the pilot (and the aeroplane landing safely).

              Fantastic work.

I did ponder for a short while ( about ten seconds ) whether to build a cockpit around it. Then thought better of it surprise

Ha no ! I drew out the various components in 2D. From those I made a plywood mock up. When I was happy with the design I sent my files away for laser cutting in ali.

                              Its 19 inches tall

No. I rarely do. to me its a waste of time, and time away from building ( and other stuff) Im not a blogger or anything so its wasted time. I take snaps of course but its so haphazard as and when. laugh

                                    Wonderful!

Scaling from the bricks in one photo, it's about a foot high* and appears to be meticulously perfect. Very different from the stuff I knock together!

Puts the much smaller 1/32 'highly detailed' resin model seats well into perspective for sure

Cheers Bill. Are you 'in the trade' as it were ?

I was in the RAF for long time as a Survival Equipment Fitter. Although our trade wasnt involved with the servicing of seats we naturarly had a close association with the seat bays with the chutes and life rafts etc.

Ive always been fascinated with these mechanical marvels. Incredible bits of kit.

Here is a simpler seat I made based on the Buccaneer seat, the MK6

I fancy re-doing this seat in a larger scale and really going to town on it !

Stark difference of "bring your own cushion" on the Brit seat. Surprised there's no cup holder on t'other, but both unbelievable modelling skill. Truly superb.
