Well done Steve it;s nice to see people thinking about and tackling a problem themselves without having to have their hand held all the way.
To be honest I feel that my hand is being held all the way and I’m very grateful! I could probably piece all this advice together from YouTube, books and websites, but it would be far slower and less enjoyable, not to mention more error prone. I’ve learnt the most tremendous amount in the last 2 weeks, I’d barely touched a lathe before that, now I know how to align one to tolerances, grind lathe bits, measure the accuracy of a spirit level and loads besides.
I’m now at 0.002 taper across about 4 inches (in the other direction than previously). That’s probably good enough for now, I need to try to make my first proper part!
Cheers
