Unusual Boat Propellers?

Hi All,

Came across these at the car boot yesterday and my magpie fetish grabbed me by the wallet!

The are two LH & RH props for what exactly?

The blades are not the usual shape but have a straight cut across them.

Some one said they are 'surface acting' whatever that is.

They will probably end up as 'steam punk if they do not sell!

Nice bit of boat jewellery though!

From what I recall, they will still work well when not fully submerged, interacting with the surface of the water. For a fast boat.

Surface piercing propellor run with only about half the prop in the water very efficient for fast boats, they give a lovely rooster tail.

The Irrawaddy Flotilla tried a type of surface piercing propeller called a vane wheel, but I don't think they had a reputation for speed.
