      Evening,

I've finally found one of these machines for sale, been looking for one for some time, I'm going to collect it tomorrow, could anyone tell me what's required to break it down in to bits a person can carry so I can get it in the car?

What tools are needed? Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Disconnect the motor. Undo the 4 bolts holding the grinder to the stand, inserted from underneath. If you remove the bed stops the bed will wind off the rack. I left the motor on mine but I have to admit it felt a lot heavier that when I moved it the previous time. (I was a lot younger then). It's liftable like that but I would suggest a wheel barrow or trolly rather than carrying a long way. I managed 30 yards 10 years ago but I wouldn't want to do it again.

What are you planning to use it for. It's really for side and face cutters and shaper tools. Can be pressed into use as a surface grinder for stuff like vice jaws.

Tools selection of open ended imperial spanners and screwdrivers for the electrics.

          regards Martin

Hi Martin, thank you for this information it shouldn't be too difficult to move then hopefully, just have to lift it into the car then a few metres out of the car the other end.

I'm hoping to use it for general cutting tool sharpening, maybe a bit of light surface grinding, I'd also like to build an attachment that allows a small internal grinder wheel to be used, and probably make something to facilitate cylindrical grinding, one of these came up on eBay a few months back with an original powered unit for cylindrical grinding.

I bought a completed Stent a while back but the size is a bit restrictive for additional things of this nature.

            Thanks again

I have quite a bit of info on these if you need anything.

                  Thanks Phil,

Your machine is top of the results anytime you search one of these on Google, it looks really good, I will be fully rebuilding it in due course to make sure everything is as should be, so may well benefit from your knowledge thank you.

You've also made an independent spindle system rather than the grinding wheel directly attached to the motor?

One bit of information that would be useful, I read somewhere that the G200 Boxford machine that was based on this has a column that lowers in to the cabinet so can't easily be put on a bench, I've seen quite a few Unions on a bench so is this different on these machines?

Hi John I received your email with the manual, thank you very much greatly appreciated.

180 mile round trip, but worth it I think as these don't come up for sale very often, also came with an eclipse magnet and a vice, which are both a bit too big so I'll sell those.

The seller is clearing out a deceased gentlemans estate, he also has this very nice die filing machine if below if anyones interested, wish I had the space for it.

Hi Pete, i have a Boxford G200 and the column does not drop into the cabinet, the head rises and falls similar to the Union machine.

Thanks for clarifying that John, that'll teach me to take random postings online at face value, I turned down a very cheap although a bit rusty G200 a while back because it wouldn't have been possible to put on a bench, I'm happy with the Union though it's a very nicely made little machine.
