      I am trying to identify a clock mechanism from a globe clock. The only identifying mark is W.GERMANY so not much help.

          The clock you have is a so called "Zaanse klok". De Zaan is a region just north of Amsterdam, it is a copy of the clocks made in the 17th century in that region, probably from ca. 1970. It was most likely made by Warmink a clockfactory in Almelo in the east of the Netherlands which in 2008 stopped production. The movements were imports from western Germany. These new copies are almost worth nothing this in contrast to the original ones which can be very expensive, see **LINK** Niko
