Hi all, can anyone help in finding a supplier of 8″  200mm hacksaw blades, I am renovating an old Trojan 8 cast frame hacksaw, ( blade mounting holes are 8″ centre to centre )

      Regards.

No, but I use carbide tipped, or solid carbide drill bits to shorten longer blades, both for hand and power hacksaws.
Just make sure they are clamped to a solid steel backing plate to save damaging the drills as they break through.

Hi Bill thanks for your reply, yes I already had that up my sleeve and it looks like that is what I will have to do, albeit the 8″ blade installed is about one 1/8″ smaller teeth-to-back edge, also there are a lot of new Trojan tools out there making it hard to track down the hacksaws heritage.

          Regards

          Peter.

You are not the only one, someone here  with a 9″ featuring a cut down 12″ blade.

My father had an ancient hacksaw with 3 bow settings, now I know why.

Yours seems to be Aussie made.

Yes David, you are correct. I seem to remember a time when those frames were quite common, in fact I still have one, seldom used these days..

I have one similar to the one in the in the link, mine is the adjustable type the top bow being two piece with three holes for adjustment. It’s out in the garden shed in that corner where the light never shines 🙂
