I have quite a few engineers clamps & use them when I need to, but I am happy to use g-clamps, especially for larger jobs. This shows how I used then to align a broaching bush so that the slot was in line with the centre-line of an eccentric. The eccentric is in a recess in the plate, with a hole in the plate for the guide. I wouldn’y have used g-clamps for this because of the curved surfaces.
