In my workshop I use a Chester DB10 lathe and an SPG Mini Mill. In addition I have all the usual stuff like Compressor, Mig Welder, Generator, Tyre Changing M/C and wheel balancer.

As a hobby I make Parking Brakes for Honda Pan European Motorbikes, ST1100s and ST1300s and sell them on Ebay.

Having accumulated quite a few blunt 16mm End Mills I eventually found a way to sharpen the Helical Flutes as well as the Ends. I only use the miller and a Dremel plus some other bits of gizmos I made – works great.

I have taken photos of the Helical grinding setup if anyone wants copies and or more info.

Hope this info is what is expected from a new member.

Welcome Tony, there are a number of bikers on here so you may hear from some of them soon.

I for one would be very interested in your helical grinding device. One way to share is to make an album and put your pictures in it. If you look for the green coloured banner at the top of this page, the 4th tab along is albums.

              Hello Brian

Thank you for your help, I have tried to send the photos – hope its successful.

More info available if required i.e. how I grind the end faces of an End Mill in lathe.

              Kind regards

              Tony

Hello fellow Burnley person! If you ever need a steam boiler you wont have far to go. Ive all but stopped selling on ebay as the fees are very high and as a seller you have next to no rights….nightmare.

that bit of ingenuity is worthy of a couple of pages in Neil’s mag – I guess with piano wire rather than string it could be automated with the simple digital taper grinder lathe technique

Hello Tony, placing the pictures in an album worked, very ingenious!

Thank you to you all for the welcome and information on how to use Albums.

To Brian – I think "ingenious" is a bit over the top but thanks for your interest and positive response.

Not sure about the automation Frances IoM – I only have 4 * 18mm & 2 16mm End Mills to sharpen. My method takes about 30 minutes to setup the miller for grinding but it only takes about 10 minutes to sharpen each endmill. Don't know of Neils mag.

To 34046 – there are 2 other listings on Ebay for the ST1300 – you can get more details of the Parking Brake on my web site if you want. – http://www.tworrall.uk

Hi Fizzy – had a look at your Steam Boilers – very impressive. I agree about costs of Ebay etc but I really just make the parts for an interest / hobby – it covers my costs – I will not make my 1st million thats for sure.

Thanks again for all your comments and welcome

                        Tony
