Whatever the metal of choice …

it looks like a ludicrous design for a piece of personal protection.

            I use these. 29733.jpeg

Robust, economical, and I haven't heard a thing since 1984.

What's the point of going to a Motorhead concert if it doesn't make your ears bleed?

It's a well worked out method of getting people with more brass than sense to spread it about a bit.

And in response to Neil's post, what is the point of going to a Motorhead concert at all?

I suppose if it encourages people to wear ear protection because they think its trendy and fashionable then it can't be a bad thing, better than nothing at all.

It's a most enjoyable experience, bit quiet compared to Ted Nugent though who is probably not your cup of tea either but we all like different things.

Finally, a use for all those spigots.

As for the music, I'm not particularly swayed by motorhead, despite listening to the genre, however i think their gig i saw at Wembley arena was an unforgettable gig. Lemmy could definitely draw a crowd.

I think it would be a cold day in hell before I would part with £60 for a pair of earplugs, let alone £300 for Titanium ones, they are right royally taking the piss, but some stupid snowflakes will buy them!

How odd, they have lowered the prices!, or they are doing to old trick of advetising in different places at different prices, and seeing which makes the most cash! still ludicrously expensive, probably made in china for pennies a dozen!

Buy a set of the rubber ear buds and make your own metal.carrier. I’m sure someone could come up with steam themed ones lol.

OK, so excuse me getting all technical on a silly thread, but after reading through the blurb, the metal is doing bugger all apart from giving you a bit to pull on, it’s the rubber bung that kills all the noise 😂😂

OK back to the silliness 😀

Once you have completely occuded the external ear canal bone conduction becomes the dominant sound transmission route, therefore so long as the plug material has a higher resistance to sound transmission than bone there is no point in making it any denser. As for cost, my plugs usually cost me about £40 to £50 per pair as they are individually moulded and I change them every three or four years because the plugs may change shape, and ear canals tend to change shape with time. The beauty of moulded plugs is that it is virtually impossible to insert them incorrectly and that guarantees optimum performance.

I never saw Motorhead but saw Lemmy in the early 70's at a Hawkwind gig like this one :-

Small venue, pitch black at times with strobes going, and very loud. It was quite an experience. Great days.

I have individually moulded plugs with a microphone and sound tube, very effective when switched off and over ear muff defenders on, everybody mimes at me and I don't hear them smiley
