Same as I did the last one described here cut with the "Armstrong" Slotting head, well in fact as it was smaller MOD1 rather than MOD1.75 I did not predrill the waste material out.

Start to discuss it in this thread and then carries on down the page and over to the next for video of working gearbox.

Looks like all the bits I designed to convert the RMC type to 4-stroke work OK

More progress on my gearbox. Today I had the first trial assembly of the input and output shafts. I'm glad to report that, with a little bit of fettling to remove the odd burr, it all came together satisfyingly well. I have uploaded this photo to show the assembly resplendent on th bench. The caliper is open to 100 mm to give an idea of scale. (Miniature it ain't!)

For comparison, this a screen grab from the Alibre Atom 3D design:

In our metal work class's at Tech in the early 1960s we were told that imperial mics would soon become G clamps. it never happened here.

We had a maintenance day today and yesterday. Took the complete table off our FB-2 and cleaned the X and Y axis leadscrews, nuts, gibs and ways. Put it all together and adjusted the backlash out. Also completely cleaned 3 chucks and gave the S7 a good spa day. Replaced the felt wiper, oiled everything and got her looking like new again.

                  Feels good!

Progress (a little) on the 1" scale Water Cart

Trial fit of the spray bar and fittings today. I knew I would find a use for a section of a 1960s car aerial. De chromed hard brass tube, it was just the right size (5/32&quot.

Got a bit more work done on the 4 facet drill grinding attachment for my wetstone sharpener today, machined up the drill clamp and did a trial assembly before finessing it.

Not too happy with the guide bar bridge, it slipped in the vice because I was too lazy to swap the jaws so there are a couple of marks on it, will probably remake that at some point but other than that everything fits together nicely and operates smoothly.

That's it, having recently repaired a Mamod traction engine for someone I thought I would see if I could come up with a similar reversing method for a simple engine.

Over the last couple of weeks I've finally finished off my ELS fitted to a myford 254. Not the one being described elsewhere, this is the Joe Noci version.

I'd like to publicly thanks Joe for patiently responding to my multitudinous e-mails, most of which were needed because of my own ineptitude.

I'll now be able to cut all those imperial threads which have been such a pain beforehand. I'll probably never recoup the time I've spent, but it was educational and fun. I've attached some pictures. All I need to do now is make a belt guard

Duncan, I see from the photo the stepper HAS an extension shaft, so a rattle damper is easily fitted.

No doubt you will fit one ( a few??) in pursuit of the 3mm pitch @ 500rpm….

I seem to remember he did also post something on MEW forum, but, as usual, I am useless with the applicable search engine..Can't find it! Or maybe it was the gear hobber he posted about?
