To choose the correct standard industrial induction motor it depends on the mains frequency and the number of poles in the motor; and the maximum rated speed of the grinding wheel.

I notice that this link suggests a 2 pole motor as used in the Worden rotates at 3000 rpm in the UK on 50 cycles AC. However as the motor plate image below states the actual speed as compared to the true synchronous speed is lower; in this case 2700rpm under load.
Most 100mm grinding wheels can go a little faster however (They will explode if run over their stated design speed, Read the manufacturers specification for the wheels you buy very carefully)
A 2 pole motor is the best compromise if you are directly mounting the grinding wheel on the motor.
