Good to hear the model engineering exhibition is returning to Manchester. The year I went it felt busy and well attended by the public. Hopefully it will stay as a regular event.

Not very far from the Anson Engine Museum in Poynton, worth a visit if in the area.

Is there on this year then, or has it already been on?

A link would be good please.

Sadly not this year but February 2016. Yes, it is advertised in the latest model engineer (I bought mine wink). The organisers are looking for people to help so hopefully they will find the people they need.

Plenty of time to get an exhibit ready laugh

                  Thanks for the link, Jason

Interesting that Google didn't find it, when I searched.

Not the same as the last one.

This one looks to be organised by various clubs instead of a paid for profit exhibition.

What with Bristol, Stamford and now this one it could be the way shows are moving ?

Because of limited space we are unable to include planes, or boats.

That's a shame, the venue must be pretty packed to exclude other modelling disciplines

I was in absolute heaven when I used to attend the Corn Exchange exhibitions. I went with a schoolfriend for several years until they ended. I think the first time I went was in about 1955.

Those were the days! Manchester city centre had three engineering shops within a few minutes walking distance of each other (Nesbitts, Stanleys, and Gleaves) I still have my original Zeus booklet and a Unimat SL which I think cost me about £25 (could that be right?).

I do hope this new exhibition is a success.

Presumably, this is a resurrection of the Show that was held for a couple of years at the Event City , Trafford Park a few years ago.

In addition to the M.E. Shows already mentioned, there has been a Show at Spalding for the last two years, which appears to be growing. Great, since East Anglia seems to be missing out otherwise.

It's good to see the local, and sometimes, not so local, M.E. Clubs supporting Exhibitions by having stands there.

Lets hope that this one succeeds.

Thanks for the memory Ian (P).

Although I lived near Bolton, Gleaves was where I bought a number of my significant add-on's for my second hand Myford ML7. In particular, the stand, the clutch, and the Norton gearbox.

My last visit was in 1972, when, as a leaving present, the office staff where I had worked bought me a vernier caliper.

Do you remember the model railway which could be packed away in three guitar cases. The gauge was smaller than `N' scale and the builders had made their own rolling stock and wound their own motors. When asked how they got the spokes in the engine's driving wheels, one of them replied

"Oh, we just made a tool and bashed them out!"

                                      Regards to all,

                                      Sam

Interesting! I assumed it was a rebirth of the Event City event. It is hard to find on the web and I had to search specifically for MMEX, I hope they do a good job of advertising.

Being local to me its must easier to exhibit so I will be able to support, Anyone on here from the Wirral Model Engineering Society? and will they have a stand…..

No, nothing to do with the two exhibitions that were run by Meridienne. This is the rebirth of the Northern Association of Model Engineering Clubs' Exhibition.

Looks to be smallish but hopefully if well supported may continue. I couldn't understand why the one at Event CIty near the Trafford Centre stopped after just two years. It was certainly well attended.

It's good to see shows starting up as it will help keep the hobby alive.Manchester is to far for me but the Spalding show which started two years ago allowed my friend and I to exhibit, with only 30 miles to travel this is not to much of a chore. The Harrogate show moving to Doncaster race course is also within reach ,giving the East midlands better access to shows. All credit to the organisers and wish them all the success they deserve.

I wouldn't put Anson Engine Museum on your ALSO visit list as it dosnt open until Easter.

I think with regard to Event City Shows it may well have been like the one our motorcycle club show at in a couple of months time. As a club we get free entry along with a free double stand area to promote.

Money is taken from the business operators who attend and sell. If it was run on a similar basis then maybe there was just not enough cash generated from sellers to keep it viable.
