This morning I was driving my little van along a very narrow country road, just about room for a large car. Came to a blind double bend ,slowed to about 20 mph as usual. First saw the bale spike, then the rest of big 4WD tractor with a trailer, maybe 20 tons all coming towards me , sort of sideways. The driver still had his mobile stuck in his face. Lucky the trailer had brakes and they worked. Pedestrians, cyclists, horses etc. have a right to be on the roads, the rest of us are licensed to use them.

I cycled to school from the age of 11 from my village to a school in the city, despite heavy traffic which was much the same as it is today I learned defensive cycling and never had any problems. Today's cyclists seem to think they can do no wrong and the rules of the road and the Highway Code do not apply to them. They do not seem to understand the limitations of other vehicles to see and avoid them. LED lights seem to be used to dazzle other road users rather than illuminate their path and alert people of their presence, I dip my headlights for cyclists but the dickheads who use badly set ultrabright lights get full beam. They seem oblivious to the fact that a peloton of 40 odd bicycles is nearly impossible to overtake safely on country roads, I am a patient person and have followed these inconsiderate groups for miles to get to a safe passing place, tractors have to pull over to release following traffic but these people would never think of one second that they might be inconveniencing anyone one else. Frustrating other road users is only going to get them killed as only pedestrians are more vulnerable than them. With consideration and understanding of everybody's problems we can all enjoy the roads safely. Living near Oxford which is probably the cycling capital of the U.K. We probably have more than the average amount of clueless cyclists as well as students.
