        I agree with AES.

I live in Lima, Peru (South America) and had no problem with getting my copies on time, the problem could be elsewere.

And I also will like to see in the next Vol 4, work from Edgar T Westbury, like "The Seagull" and also work from Ian Bradley, K. N. Harris, and the list goes on.

        Best Regards to all

          Hi there,

I bought this publication as it had the complete set of instructions for the Lynx 15cc engine. I have looked at this engine for a while, and as a beginner I thought it would be worth a go. With my projects I try and find the components that I would have greatest difficulty with and start with these. The reason being that if I cannot make them, then I've not wasted to much time or money.

One of the first things I looked at was the cutting of the cams. I have never attempted anything like this before. As I had a rotary table I would use the milling machine method to cut them. This is when I hit the problem. Part of the information appears to be missing from the 'Cam Machining Figures', on page 45 of the magazine. The figures for angles 334 thro to 13 are missing. I am a beginner and could be wrong but…

If these are missing can somebody please help me with these, or explain to me why they are not needed I would be most grateful?

          Thanks in advance,

          Henry

            Hi Henry

No its not you, DC has managed to leave out a whole column of sizes, If you click the "message member" tab at the bottom of this reply and let me have your e-mail I'll send you whats missing.

As for everyone else I don't know how DC can supply the missing data, its not a sthough people want to wait until vol4. I did raise this point in my first reply to this thread and said that the mag article did not have enough info which I think was to do with teh cams but DC said all was there.

Right thats Henry hopefully sorted, just leaves everyone else who was lead to believe the mag contained a full set of drawings.

I bought this magazine on the strength of the add that the full plans and build articles for "The Lynx" were contained there in, now I find that vital information is missing does this make it "not fit for purpose"? I do not expect JasonB to supply me or any of the rest of us who purchased this volume with the missing data, I think MTM are obliged to get this information to all who have paid for it.

                Peter.

                  Peter..best of luck with that.

Out of curiosity if reread the preview to see why I was so disappointed ..
Looking at the contents and odd page’s ..looks good ..ooh a shaper from angle..thats intresting..loco narr..ic engin narr… ohh a riveter. .steam mill engine ok

Any way the contents should not be taken as indication of coverage …say art starts at page 80 and next art at 84…DOES NOT MEAN 5 PAGES on said article..
I am now that much wiser..the review process in w h smiths also failed to prepare me…this is my fault no one else’s.

Shame . I was expecting more from the shaper article ..again my fault..

If DC1 does not respond I'll contact Diane early next week and see if it is possible to put the offending page onto the site somewhere where it won't get lost in a thread, still no help to those without internet access but butter than nothing.

Ho hum, my copy arrived in my mailbox on the morning of the publicised release date, and I live in New Zealand….

On the missing cam data the direct link to the online copy of the original issue 4281 is on page 262 here.

                          **LINK**

Of course you’ll need to be a subscriber and logged in to get access to it

If you are looking for all the original articles then you’ll find that issues 4274 and 4275 are missing from the digital editions. 4275 is the one you'd want

                          I start my build tomorrow

                          regards

My copy finally arrived today. What do I think of it? I think it's good value and quite varied in it's contents.

                              Well done David.

Suggestions for next Best of…. How about some of the really early articles for their historic value. There shouldn't be any copyright issues with anything over 75 years old and those artcles will be new to most people here.

                              Russell.

Ordered on August 30th, apparently dispatched on September 11th and still no sign of it here in Canada.

Normally items from the UK take 2 days to a week to get here. For example the two WPS books that I ordered at the same time but sent on Sept 2nd got here four days later.

                                    Hi There

                                    Just seen this thread.

When I said all was there, I was referring to the text that someone said was wrong.

I did not recheck the drawings.

I have no idea why this page was incorrect.

It was not altered by me prior to publication.

The office used the drawings that should have been supplied with the original package offered for sale from MyHobbyStore.co.uk

The PDF from the original drawings are below.

If anyone else ever has a problem with anything I edit, please email me.

I don't monitor this forum all the time. If I don't get notified of the problem, I can't respond.

                                    regards David
