OK lesson one – Better Signage

Will certainly matter at a new venue.

Well I think it's a positive move. Something had to be done, the last Sandown Park show had a scary echo due to the lack of both traders and visitors and the three of us remarked that unless something was done soon the whole thing would die the death and after 110 years that's a pity.

        I think it's a good location.

I hope whatever they do they stay there for at least 5 years in order to build a following as I feel a lot of the damage over the last 10 years has been all the chopping and changing of both venue and date.

On a personal note I consider the minimum requirement for a good show is to be able to come home thinking that there was one outstanding thing that I was really pleased not to have missed seeing. So any show must have a real highlight or something particularly showcased. An example of this was the historic models at the 100th show.

        I wish it every success.

          .

Maybe add a decent downloadable 'map' of the stands etc.

… viewable on small mobile devices.

[Next step would obviously be something interactive.]

Thanks Jason, I had only looked for the forms on the website without success.

You need to read the popular model engineering press David

                      Neil,

Will the same suppliers be there all three days, and is there a list anywhere ?(hoping to look at mills) Also, is there any kind of reduced entry for multiple days ? I am thinking of going myself on the Friday, then maybe taking my boy on the Saturday, but I fear he might last about 5 minutes …

                        Hello Dan,

I'm afraid I don't have a list of traders. I think you have to pay on a day by day basis – you can always send him off yto look at the cars, bike and planes .

I am one of those who think that including other forms of modelling into MEX is a good thing. I hear the purists saying it's a Model Engineering show not a toy show. Most, if not all of us have come to Model Engineering through other forms of modelling. The cries of why are we not getting youngsters interested are evident from most Clubs, by having model aircraft, cars, railways and plastic models we are advertising our hobby and hopefully encouraging newcomers to come over to the 'Dark side'
