Just a quick one to say thank you to those who've answered my questions over the past few weeks about some lathes.

I'm now the very proud owner of this

I think it was a bit of a bargain, a rush hour finish time and some bid sniper software seemed to do their trick. Its in amazing condition and has some lovely extras with all original documentation and reciepts. Its a much better machine than I am!!

Yep, i'm looking forward to making some swarf with it. My friend has bought the green one that was listed too so the plan is between us we can share tooling/fixtures etc.

                Hi Jason,

congratulations with your "new" Boxford, that's a nice lathe. Hope you will share your experiences with us.

I will do once I have some time to have a proper play. I'm just chuffed with the price, with lots of Myfords going for 50% more I can only guess its the extra weight and 3 phase that puts people off?

                    Jason,

Well my Myford Soper 7 with quick change gearbox was an interesting exercise to manouvre i.e., it was a touch heavy. I can believe it might be the increased size in a small workshop or shed that might sway people.

By the way, if I had my time again, I would do exactly what you have done i.e., avoid the Chinese stuff and buy a good quality Boxford or maybe a small Colchester. My Myford is superb but I think the Boxford has the edge.

                    Happy turning.

                    PhilH
