In my experience the people who stock the greatest variety of card are picture framers of whom there must be some in your locality.
The first of the following wholesale contacts will supply non-trade users but I’m not sure about the second one:

The last time I looked, the local Hobbycraft store had a large range of suitable materials

Yes i have thought about craft shops and picture framers but i thought the card would have beed too thick and expensive as it is for decorative purposes.

Thinnest mounting board is 1.25mm thick but more commonly 1.4mm.  But then there is barrier board/card placed behind the image to prevent impurities migrating from the MDF/hardboard back onto the image causing foxing and a whole variety of problems which is 0.75mm thick.  Typical size would be 1020mm x 815mm. Corn Flakes packets are about 0.5mm thick aren’t they?

I don’t know where they get it from, and have never used it personally, but carpet fitters use template paper – I recently had vinyl fitted in the bathroom and the fitter used a roll of thick paper about 6 feet wide and many yards long – he fitted it as if carpet, and then used it as a template to cut the plywood to cover the floorboards. It’s a very thick, strong, matt grey paper.

Mike’s suggestion seems to be a good one; do you have a supplier to the flooring trade in your area like this one?

                      Hi
I have a friend who is a carpet fitter i will have a word with him, I never knew they used such a thing but it all sounds logical that it should to cut the ply etc.
What had been in my mind was when I was an apprentice in the training school we used an orange template paper in the plating shop for drawing out developments etc. I am sure the stuff the carpet fiters are using is very similar.
                      Thanks
