I have a taper pin reamer that is matked #5. It measures 7.7mm one end and 5.8mm the other. Is this an imperial 1:48 reamer. If so what is the nominal size of the appropriate taper pin

Hopefully, this one small quotation from Machinery’s Handbook will be acceptable as ‘fair use’ …

Worth adding that the table Michael shows is the American designation. In the UK we go by fractional size of the large end so a #5 pin is likely to be 9/32″ nominal

Thanks MichaelG, I stamped around for ages looking for my copy of Machinery’s Handbook and couldn’t find it🤬. I wonder who I lent it to🤔.
