Michael, does your ipad not have the facility to right click and copy image address, easy enough to find where they came from using that.

      http://www.variablefrequencydrive.org/image/vfd-pwm-waveform.jpg

I can also right click and search google for similar images, that one crops up several times.

      .

No, Jason … it's tricky to 'right click' on any tablet

      … think about it.

Normally, if I 'long press' on an image it performs the function that you describe … but with Neil's images, I only get the option to save them, or to copy them.

I always try to respect others' intellectual property, so that ^^^ sits uncomfortably.

Must be a ipad thing, on my Android phone if I touch the image for about 1sec will offer very similar to right clicking the PC so I can search google for image or open it in a new tab which displays the URL at the topsmiley plus several other options

Michael, I just tried on my iPad Pro and pressing on the image for a few seconds brings up a context menu which gives the option to open the image in a new tab, which then reveals the image url. I use chrome as my browser. Using Safari, it only offers to save or copy. Install chrome it gives a lot more functionality than Safari.

Thanks for the sanity-check, Gray yes

… I have absolutely no idea why Safari behaves differently with some images.

If anyone can explain; I would be grateful.

            .

For example, long-press on one of Mike Palmer's pictures gives all the options one might hope for.

… But, of course, his are images in an album on this forum.

I contacted the manufacture and the came up with a wiring solution totally different to the notes on their spec notes, and hey ho the bugger WORKS, much to my relief.

With hindsight I should have done that in the first place, rather than annoying ME

members, so thanks to those who replied with suggestions.

As I said I am out of my depth when it comes to theory of electronics, but to get the mill working who in my part of the world is going to take on a task like this? Answer NO ONE.

'DC Brushless motors' are fed from a switched DC supply rather than a true AC supply.

So a typical VFD outputs three sine waves (or at least approximations of them using PWM):

A BLDC controller outputs three differently phased square waves, using pulse width modulation to control the power:

                .

Is it too much to ask that you quote references when you are posting images like those ?

… You presumably found them on t'internet, or scanned them from a document … but it's tedious trying guess your source.

                Thanks

                MichaelG.

They are embedded images, so you can find their origin easily in several ways.

Glad its sorted, it would be good if you posted details of the fix just in case its of use to someone else with the same problem.

But now I'm wondering how you were able to give such a clear and unambiguous answer to you own question? The only reason I can think of is that you live on an otherwise uninhabited desert island!

                        Welcome to the forum.

Have you asked Amadeal or SYIL U.K. ?

                          Hi Rod,

I've loaded a copy of the Mach3 ini file for the Syil X5 to my Dropbox account here:- Syil X5-Mach3

It was supplied by Syil UK and I think it's Imperial not Metric (I've not used it as I run Mach4).

Mike, any chance of the settings for that motor driver?

I understand you have an x3, but as you appear not to have a starting point, the X5 settings should give you a reasonable chance Of course, it's your choice.

The file will be deleted, to free up some space, at some point this weekend.
